ABOUT
The African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT) is a leading charity committed to improving the chances of finding life-saving donor matches for people suffering from blood cancers and other blood-related disorders. Despite the remarkable work done in this field, there remains a significant shortage of donors from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, particularly within African and Caribbean communities. ACLT is dedicated to bridging this gap and giving hope to patients in need by encouraging individuals to register as blood, stem cell (bone marrow), and organ donors.
This Cause Matters
The chances of finding a matching donor are heavily influenced by ethnicity, making it crucial to have diverse donors on the register. However, the stark underrepresentation of donors from African and Caribbean backgrounds means that patients from these communities often face significantly lower chances of finding a match. ACLT works tirelessly to raise awareness of this disparity and mobilize communities to take action.
Our Fundraiser
The BPIC Network is proud to support ACLT's mission through this dedicated fundraising initiative. By partnering with organizations like NHS Blood and Transplant, Anthony Nolan, and DKMS, ACLT directs potential donors to sign up with established registers, ensuring that more lives can be saved through increased participation from underrepresented communities.
