About the job

To be the Senior H&S Business Partner looking after MEP, Logistics and Facades.

Responsible for the health and safety operational delivery function within one high turnover business unit or multiple smaller turnover business units within the construction sector. Accountable for monitoring and reporting compliance and agrees the business plan with their assigned business unit(s) on an annual basis, translating the Group and construction sector strategy and objectives into business unit plan(s).

Ensures cost effective and efficient performance of all H&S operational delivery activity within agreed budgets and for working effectively with business unit directors and leadership teams to meet business and client requirements. It is the post holder’s responsibility to provide an effective service across their assigned business unit(s) in a coherent fashion and must collaborate with the other construction business units and Group sectors to ensure a consistency of approach and standards. Expected to enhance and improve Our client’s H&S record such that it is the best in the sector and the envy of competitors.

To be the first point of contact with the health and safety enforcing authorities for and on behalf of the assigned business unit

Responsibilities

  • Positioning, promoting and protecting the brand in relation to health and safety, enabling the full roll out the “Safety first - going home safe and well” programme and reporting on compliance in all respects

  • Supporting the sector head of health and safety (construction) in the development and delivery of construction sector strategic goals and actions.

  • Ensuring the purpose of the H&S team. Enabling the assessment, management and mitigation of risk in accordance with regulation and best practice.

  • Ensuring compliance with the sector specific H&S training plan and KPI’s agreed with or assigned by the construction sector SLT.

  • Establishing corrective action with business unit directors and project heads and ensures it is carried out.

  • Integrating the various functional elements of the operational health and safety function into an efficient, effective and cohesive team

  • Developing and delivering the agreed business plan to time, quality and to budget.

  • Providing strategic advice to the assigned business unit(s) on all health and safety matters.

  • Assisting with the development, management and implementation of agreed processes and procedures through the construction sector and its supply chain in accordance with Group policy, values and standards.

  • Developing and promoting succession planning and identifies career development activities for their H&S team.

  • Working collaboratively with the assurance function in the pursuit of continuous improvement.

  • Providing timely and effective escalation of non-compliance issues they are unable to influence or achieve a satisfactory conclusion to.

Line management duties:

  • Overseeing the health and safety operational team within the assigned business unit(s).

  • Managing direct reports (to be identified by the organisational design, H&S Business Partners, Occupational Health and Wellbeing resources specific to their BU).

Requirements

You have experience of managing health, safety and wellbeing, in a large complex organisation and a proven record of achieving key results. You will also have effective and deep technical knowledge of health, safety and wellbeing, legislation and delivery relevant to the sector, business unit(s) and business.

You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships. You will have a construction or project management projects background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Our client has to offer.
