Our Client is seeking a Maximising Revenue Officer  to support an expanding affordable housing consultancy team that advises housing associations, local authorities, for profit registered providers to deliver asset management, stock rationalisation, support to new entrants in the social housing sector, governance, local authority business planning and financial capacity.

The successful individual will primarily work on supporting the Local Authority business stream developing and facilitating a wide range of financial and analysis for a range of services as well as the delivery of results and presentations to clients.

Primary focus is the support on business planning for Local Authority Housing Revenue Accounts and wholly owned housing delivery organisations. However, there is the opportunity to work outside of this scope on many other opportunities such as new registered housing providers and housing delivery options.

The work will include management of complex financial models for business planning and appraisals through the use of excel and potentially business analytics software.

To contribute analytical skills and techniques to consultancy projects across the team.

This post will suit someone wanting to develop their career across a variety of different consultancy roles in a complex and challenging environment. Experience of local authority social housing finance is not essential but the role will suit someone with a strong financial approach with an interest in affordable housing, asset management and regeneration.


Some key responsibilities:

  • Support, populate and develop financial models for business planning for local authority housing and wholly owned organisations

  • Review outputs and work with clients to develop future investment strategies

  • Contribute to other services including analysis of the development of value for money strategies, preparation for regulatory review, business plan capacity reviews

  • Develop a comprehensive benchmarking database and networking group for our business plan users

  • Assist with the development of our suite of financial models, including improving efficiency of modelling, developing partnerships with third party providers of information and developing ideas for product extension.

  • Develop and maintain client relationships, and those with business to business partners and internal teams

  • Further develop our business analytics platform and improve the use of such reporting systems to both clients and internally within the team to improve efficiency.

  • Presentation of findings to clients through reporting and face-to-face discussions.

  • Helping to win new business, write bespoke proposals (and pitch as required) to meet client needs for own projects and those delivered by consultant associates

  • Work with colleagues on providing affordable housing consultancy services to clients, as part of a wider team.

  • Work with other Affordable Housing teams and wider division to provide consultancy advice.


Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Experience with Local Authority finance particularly with Housing Revenue Accounts

  • Interest in and understanding of UK affordable housing sector

  • Problem solving and data modelling expertise - someone who has innate curiosity and is eager to experiment and push the boundaries of what is possible

  • Analytical/project management skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and familiar with MS Word and PowerPoint

  • Good written skills to prepare reports and tenders for new projects

  • Excellent time management skills with ability to meet multiple deadlines

  • Self-starter, demonstrates initiative and tenacity and strives for the best

  • Strong team player: builds relationships and consults with others, establishing trust and credibility

  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
